The life and work of a shepherd is so far removed from most Americans’ experience and understanding. Yet the New Testament calls church leaders to the office of an elder. The New Testament also teaches these men to lead like a shepherd. To help fix the lack of understanding, David Carter has started a program with a ranch in Kemmerer, WY, where men can learn what life and work as a shepherd is really like. Then they can apply their new understanding to ways to better lead the Body of Christ. Today on “In Need of a Refill,” David Carter talks about the new program he has set up to help both elders and young men seeking to be elders in the future to do this job more effectively in the church.
