How will we respond when we are holding the receipt for something someone has done to us, and we have an opportunity to cash it in. Will we choose vengeance or mercy? Joseph now holds all the power over his brothers. They came to buy food, and he accuses them of being spies. To prove they are not spies, Joseph tells them that one of them will remain in prison while the other 9 will go back to Canaan and bring their brother. Reuben tells them that all of these problems are because of what the 9 had done to Joseph when they sold him into slavery. Joseph chooses Simeon to sit in prison, binds him in front of the other 9 brothers, and tosses him in prison. There will be a day when people will stand before God’s throne and be judged for the deeds they have done both good and evil. Today on “In Need of a Refill,” Kevin Smith looks at Genesis 42 and Revelation 20 to talk about the fact that “Receipts Always Come Due.”
