Deliverance Does Not Come Cheap

I have to “pull myself up by my bootstraps and do this myself.” Statements like this show our lack of trust in relying on God and other people. Jacob comes face to face with his reliance issues. The 9 brothers get home with the food from Egypt and tell Jacob about the trip. When Jacob finds out he has to send Benjamin next time or the family will not be able to trade in Egypt, he accuses the brothers of taking Joseph and now Simeon away from him. Then he tells them in no uncertain terms that Benjamin is the only one important to him. Now the food has run out and Jacob wants to send the brothers to get some more. Today on “In Need of a Refill,” Kevin Smith looks at Genesis 42, Genesis 43, a quote from Chad Bird’s Limping With God, Mark 2, Mark 16, John 3, and John 12 to talk about the fact that “Deliverance Does Not Come Cheap.”
