Pharaoh had driven Moses and the Israelites out of Egypt after the 10th Plague. However by Exodus 14, he realizes the error of his ways and chases the Israelites to the Red Sea. God tells Moses to stretch out his staff over the Red Sea and part it. The Israelites walked through on dry ground. In 1 Corinthians 10, Paul tells them the Israelites were “baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.” He warns Christians not to be rebellious and idolatrous as the Israelites were.
